Bless this Mess

One of the mundane, daily, endless tasks that I just don't like doing is picking up stuff. We don't have a good system to get the boys to do it themselves, but even if we did, there'd still be plenty that would land on me.

So, in my continuing effort to find 'meaning in the mundane' I'm going to try something new. Instead of putting on the TV and trying to be mindlessly distracted while I work, I'm going to be mindful of what I'm doing.

I want to notice each thing I'm picking up and remember which person I love that it belongs to. And I want to be covering them in prayer while I do it. I think that's about as close as I can come to "turning the daily into devotion."

Wish me luck!

Great idea, thanks for sharing. I do something similar with laundry-primarily after I travel to Haiti, where my sons still live (we're in the midst of a very long season of waiting for the adoption process to do it's thing).

As I sort/wash/fold/put away their clothing, I pray for them. I remember them-I smile. :-)

What a great idea! That would surely help to change my attitude as I'm cleaning up.

WOW! What a GREAT idea!! Since it is only me and my hubby, I can only "blame" myself and him so many times, and bathing is prayer is so much better!! I do have lots of reminders of family as I dust the many, many pictures of them so bathing them in prayer as I dust is just, well, GREAT :) Thanks SO MUCH for this idea!!!

Can you hear my shouts of understanding from over here?! I'm a stuff picker-upper if there ever was one. Honestly, it NEVER ENDS. Even today, I'm exhausted from all that I'm trying to accomplish around this house that is, once again, crowding us in and daring us to find some peace in the middle of the chaos.

I may not survive the summer, friend. PRAY FOR ME!!!!
